CHANNEL REPORT

Whatsapp provides users with a feature called “Request Account Info”. With this feature, it’s possible to download a report of your WhatsApp account information and settings which you can access or port to a different app. As mentioned in the official WhatsApp FAQ, this report does not contain information regarding your channels and channel updates. However, thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.16.16 update, we discovered that WhatsApp is developing a separate feature that allows users to get information about channels, and it will be available in a future update of the app.

As you can see in this screenshot, the new feature allows users to request for a channel report right within the account settings. Note that if you already have a request for an account report in pending, it will be cancelled in the event you request a channel report. Similarly, your request for the channel report will be cancelled in case you request an account info report.

Since this feature is still under development, we don’t know the exact content of the channel report yet. It might include information about the channels we follow, and when we followed them. For channels created by the user, information regarding the channel metadata could be included. However, we think that providing users with a tool to request for a channel report shows their commitment to ensuring transparency in their services.

The channel report feature is under development and it will be released in a future update of the app. As always, we’re going to share an additional article when we have further details about this feature.
