GROUP SUGGESTIONS

After introducing community settings with the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.12.13 update, WhatsApp is now working on another new feature to improve communities: group suggestions. With this feature, users will be able to suggest their groups to community admins. After receiving a suggestion, the community admin may add the suggested group to the community, making it easier for other community members to discover new groups. This feature is currently in development and it has been spotted through the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.14.14 update from the Google Play Store:

As you can see in this screenshot, this is a new section in development regarding the group suggestions feature. With this section, community admins will be able to accept or reject any request from other community members. In the same section, there are also two shortcuts to quickly reject or approve their suggestions. In addition, as explained in the screenshot, it is necessary for the privacy option called “admin approval” to be available for group members as well.

With the group suggestions feature, WhatsApp wants to offer an additional tool to help community admins enrich their communities by providing the opportunity for community members to collaborate. When a suggestion is accepted, the group is automatically added to the community, and its members will also be added to the community. New community members will still be in control over which other community groups they want to join as this is not automatic.

The ability to suggest groups to the community admin is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. We plan to share an additional article when new details about this feature are available.
