SELECT CHATS - DEFAULT MESSAGE TIMER
Last year, WhatsApp has released new features for disappearing messages, and a default message timer has been rolled out to everyone. This feature lets you choose to start new individual chat threads with disappearing messages already enabled by default to the selected duration right within WhatsApp Privacy Settings.
When you enable the default message timer, it only affects new individual chats but WhatsApp is now working on a new option for your existing chats:
As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp is now working on a new option that lets us convert multiple existing conversations to disappearing chats in a future update. In fact, when the user taps "by selecting them", a new section shows up where you can select multiple conversations to convert them to disappearing chats at once. This shortcut is very useful when you want to enable disappearing messages for several chats, so you do not need to toggle the feature within every chat info manually. After converting them to disappearing chats, all new messages in these chats will be set to disappear.
Unfortunately, this feature is under development so there are no further details about when it will be rolled out to beta testers, but we will post a new changelog on this website when the feature is available.
