WhatsApp has just submitted a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 22.214.171.124.
What’s new in this update? Discover all details below!
|Name of the feature?||24 hours option|
|Availability?||WhatsApp is testing the feature and it will be available in a future update.|
|I’ve the same version but I don’t see this news, why?||The feature is not available yet, but you can see a preview here.|
|Previous news?||WhatsApp is asking to accept Terms of Service again|
Yesterday I’ve published an article where I’ve explained that WhatsApp is working to bring a 24 hours option for disappearing messages. In that article I’ve shown the feature on iOS, where WhatsApp was starting the test.
Today, thanks to the 126.96.36.199 update, we have discovered that WhatsApp is also starting to test today (among the WhatsApp developers) the same feature. The test is still not available for beta testers.
As we explained yesterday, when the user chooses the “24 hours” option, any new message in the chat will disappear after that amount of time. In personal chats, both people can toggle the setting. In groups, any member can enable or disable the feature but the group administrator can restrict who can change that setting in Group Info > Group Settings (it is a recent news already available for all users).
Seen that the feature is under development, the text header is outdated and it doesn’t reflect yet the news: in fact there is still the reference to “7 days”, but WhatsApp will update it before the release during the development.
The feature is under development and it will be available in a future update. Stay tuned to discover more features!
