FLASH CALL

WhatsApp is developing a new feature called Flash Call that allows you to automatically verify your phone number when you try to log into WhatsApp.
How does it work? WhatsApp will ask you a new permission to access your phone’s call log. If you give permission to WhatsApp to see your call logs, WhatsApp will automatically verify if you have received the call that would give you access to your WhatsApp account.
Why are they called flash calls? WhatsApp will call your phone number and then automatically end the call, verifying if it’s present in the call log, so it’s really a fast call:

As you can see in the screenshot, WhatsApp will only use this once to confirm you have received the call. It won’t be used for other purposes and it’s an optional feature. In fact, you can also decide to not use flash calls and to reply to the verification call normally as before, selecting “Not now”.
This feature is under development and it will be available in a future update. Stay tuned to discover more features about WhatsApp!
