WhatsApp is working on a contact note feature for the web client

WhatsApp is developing a new feature to allow users to attach notes to their contacts, designed to provide a convenient way to add personalized information about specific contacts. The contact note feature is currently in development and it will be available in a future update of WhatsApp Web.

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.9.12 update, we announced that WhatsApp is currently working on a feature to attach notes to contacts. Instead, with the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.9.17 update, we discovered that WhatsApp is also developing a feature to quickly add specific messages to notes. These features will primarily enhance the user experience for business accounts by allowing them to add contextual information to customer contacts and conversations. While support for notes is still in progress on WhatsApp beta for Android, we discovered that WhatsApp is actively working on this feature even for a future update of WhatsApp Web!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring a new text field within the chat info screen to allow users to enter some information to add as notes, set for release in a future update of WhatsApp Web. Through notes, businesses will easily be able to remember specific information regarding their customers, like past interactions, unique preferences, specific details about payments, or other critical follow-up information.

We believe that this feature will bring significant advantages to businesses. First, it will provide an organized way to manage customer information directly within WhatsApp, reducing the need for external tools or complex systems to track customer details. This simplification will help businesses save time and resources, particularly when they need quick access to customer information during conversations or while managing customer relationships in real time. In addition, this feature will improve customer engagement by enabling businesses to personalize their communication. It is important to mention that these notes are private. This means that only the business can view them, and the customer won't be notified about what notes have been attached to their conversation.

The feature to attach notes to contacts is under development and it will be available in a future update of the web client. As usual, we have plans to publish another article once we have new details regarding this feature to share with you.
