MINOR TWEAKS TO THE INTERFACE
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.22.16 update, we announced that WhatsApp has finally fixed the issue that prevented notifications from properly working for some users. After some time, WhatsApp silently released a few minor changes to some elements of the interface to some users that install one of the recent beta versions of the app:
The changes immediately visible to the user are about the tabs within the main screen of the application: they are no longer in uppercase. Note that this is not limited to the text within the tabs but almost all strings that were uppercased in the previous updates are now in lowercase. As a part of the tweaked interface, WhatsApp is also redesigning all buttons in the application: they show up with a rounded style to some beta testers. As shown in the screenshot, the one within WhatsApp Settings > Help > App info is an example of a redesigned button.
Thanks to these changes, it seems that WhatsApp is trying to comply with the recent Material standards for Android regarding the typography and buttons. Maybe, more improvements for the interface may be following over the coming weeks.
These small tweaks to the interface are available to some beta testers on WhatsApp Messenger beta and WhatsApp Business beta and they are rolling out to more people over the coming days.
