NEW EXPERIENCE FOR THE WINDOWS APP

In the article about the WhatsApp for Mac 25.7.77 update, we announced that channels are widely available. This update introduced the highly anticipated Channels feature to everyone, allowing users to easily follow and view channels directly within the newly introduced Updates tab. The Updates tab now combines both status updates and channels into one streamlined location, offering a more organized and seamless experience for users. This feature, which was previously available only to a limited group of beta testers, is now accessible to all users, making it easier for Mac users to stay connected with their favorite channels. It appears that WhatsApp now intends to offer Windows users the same experience with navigating through channels as it already does for the Mac version, aiming to provide a consistent experience across both platforms. Following the release of the latest updates of WhatsApp for Windows, which is available on the Microsoft Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is rolling out a new experience with channels and communities for the Windows beta app!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, some users can now explore a redesigned Windows app interface that mirrors the recently updated look of WhatsApp Web. This update introduces the same modern design language to the desktop experience while also enhancing the core functionality of the Windows app. Specifically, users can finally access their channels directly from a dedicated tab. This means that users on the Windows app can now enjoy the ability to view and follow channels just like on the Mac app. Additionally, it's possible to explore and follow their favorite channels through a dedicated channel directory.

The directory categorizes channels based on pre-set categories, helping users discover new channels tailored to their interests. Once a channel is followed, it will appear in this tab, making it easier for users to keep track of the latest content. Another major benefit of this feature is its synchronization with the mobile app, as any channels followed on Android or iOS will also appear in the new tab on the Windows app. Similarly, if users follow a new channel from the Windows app, it will be reflected on their mobile device as well, ensuring a seamless experience across platforms.

The new update also brings improved support for Communities within the Windows app. Users can now easily view and manage their Communities from a dedicated section right from the sidebar, similar to the experience on the web client. This makes it simpler to stay updated on announcements and group activities without needing to switch to the mobile device. The revamped interface also highlights active Community groups more clearly, ensuring quick access to important conversations and events.

With the introduction of a dedicated tab for channels, WhatsApp aims to ensure that both desktop platforms, Mac and Windows, are aligned in terms of features and user experience. This move is designed to provide a unified approach to managing updates and channels across both systems, simplifying the way users stay connected. Whether on Mac or Windows, users can now enjoy a more consistent experience when accessing their channels and communities. The addition of this feature on Windows also highlights the commitment to offering a comprehensive and integrated experience, regardless of the device being used.

A new experience with a freshly interface, channels, and communities is available to some users who install the latest WhatsApp for Windows updates from the Microsoft Store, and it's rolling out to even more accounts over the coming weeks.
