STATUS UPDATES
WhatsApp keeps working on improving the Windows native app by bringing features that are already available on the other WhatsApp Desktop app. In particular, the team just pushed a new update on the Microsoft Store that allows beta testers to view status updates today!
As you can see in this screenshot, there is finally a button that redirects to the list of all status updates and it's available within the chat list header. Since this is a beta version, some features related to status updates are still not available: for example, you cannot reply to others' status updates and you cannot create a new one. We learned about how the development of the native beta app is going, so we should expect a new update that brings additional features to status updates in the future.
If you have updated the app to the latest 2.2232.6.70 beta build and the status update button doesn't show up, please kill and reopen the app: this action should force the status shortcut to appear. If it still doesn't show up, please wait at least 24 hours.
In addition, WhatsApp is now assigning the Electron bundle identifier to the UWP app to let the Microsoft Store automatically replace WhatsApp Desktop with the WhatsApp native version for Windows: thanks to this replacement, all users on WhatsApp Desktop will gradually be migrated to the new WhatsApp for Windows native app, as already mentioned by ALumia Italia today.
The ability to view status updates is available to all beta users that install the latest WhatsApp for Windows beta build from the Microsoft Store today.
