CAMERA SHORTCUT
After releasing the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.20.4 update, WhatsApp was rolling out a new camera shortcut since the camera tab has officially been replaced with the communities tab. In the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.20.5 update, WhatsApp removed the new camera shortcut since there was a bug and it showed up even for users that still had the camera tab. After some days, we also discovered that the camera tab was under development on the WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.19.0.75 update but it has not been released to users since it was not ready. Today, there is official news for some iOS and Android beta testers:
As you can see in this screenshot, the camera shortcut is back on Android and it has been enabled on iOS beta for the first time. It shows up to users if they are already able to create a community so the previous entry point to the camera is not available anymore. If it is not visible, it means it is not ready for your WhatsApp account and you need to wait for a future update. In addition, the ability to create a community is needed in order to see the new camera shortcut: if you still cannot create a community, you need to wait for a future update even in this case.
The new camera shortcut is available to some beta testers on WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS and it will be released to more users over the coming days. In the meantime, be sure to update WhatsApp to the most recent beta available on the Play Store and TestFlight.
