After releasing a picture-in-picture mode for video calls to some beta testers after installing the WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.24.0.79 update, there is finally news for everyone. In particular, the company released the WhatsApp for iOS 23.3.77 update on the App Store a few hours ago, and we discovered from the official changelog that the picture-in-picture mode has been widely rolled out to everyone on the stable release of the app!
As mentioned in the official changelog, it is now possible to use the picture-in-picture mode when you place video calls, so you can finally multitask during a WhatsApp call without your video being paused: just try to place a video call to check if it is already enabled for your WhatsApp account. In addition, this update enables you to use some other features: the ability to attach a caption to your documents and longer group subjects and descriptions (released with the WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.3.0.70 update) to make it easier to describe your groups.
If you don’t have one of these features, note that some accounts may receive them over the coming weeks, as noted in the official changelog. Please stay ahead by regularly updating WhatsApp from the App Store and the TestFlight app in order to get the feature in the future in case you don’t have it after installing this update.
The ability to use the picture-in-picture mode during a WhatsApp call is finally available for more iOS users so be sure to update the app from the App Store to check if the feature is already enabled for your WhatsApp account.
