CREATE CHANNELS
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.14.6 update, we shared the details about a feature that allows users in Singapore and Colombia to create channels. With this feature, those people can finally create a broadcast channel where they can share updates with their followers. Yesterday, the WhatsApp for iOS 23.14.74 update was released on the App Store. While the official changelog doesn’t provide detailed information about the new features in this update, we discovered that WhatsApp is now introducing the ability to create channels in Singapore and Colombia. This feature is being rolled out to iOS users on the stable release of the app in these two countries.
The official changelog still mentions news regarding the improved sticker navigation along with a large collection of avatars, announced with the WhatsApp for iOS 23.10.77 update. In addition, we can confirm that the ability to create channels appears to be widely available to users in Singapore and Colombia. Open the “Updates” tab to experiment with the “Create channel” option. After creating a channel, you can share a channel invite link with anyone you want. Note that this is still limited to users in Singapore and Colombia, and we don’t have information regarding when channels will be released in other countries.
If you don’t have this feature, note that some accounts may receive it over the coming weeks, as indicated in the official changelog. Please stay ahead by regularly updating WhatsApp from the App Store and the TestFlight app to get the feature in the future in case you don’t have it after installing this update.
The ability to create channels is finally available for iOS users in Singapore and Colombia that install the latest update of WhatsApp from the App Store. It is also available after installing the latest version of the WhatsApp Business app. Make sure to install this update to enjoy a better user experience.
