RICH LINK PREVIEW
We published the details about a new feature under development two days ago: the ability to generate rich previews when sharing a link as a text status update. The feature was already spotted on WhatsApp beta for iOS (even if it is still under development) and we said it would have been released on WhatsApp beta for Android and Desktop in the future. Thanks to the WhatsApp Desktop beta 2.2218.1 update, we got a confirmation about what we said in the previous article:
As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp is also working on bringing the same rich link preview to WhatsApp Desktop beta. In reality, it is not very surprising: WhatsApp is always used to introducing the same feature for all their platforms during the development so we were already expecting it. Note that the rich preview is visible to the recipients only if the sender gave the app some seconds to generate the preview before publishing the status update.
As we said in the previous article, this feature is under development on WhatsApp Desktop beta and it will be released in a future update.
