WhatsApp is working on personalized profiles for channel admins
In the post about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.37.6 update, we announced a feature that lets channel admins create and show a profile. This functionality will enable channel admins to display a dedicated profile for their channel updates. This means that when a channel admin shares an update and they have a profile, followers will be able to see limited information about the admin. Admins will be able to control whether their profile is shown directly from the channel settings.
This feature is currently under development for the Android app. At the same time, WhatsApp is working to introduce the same functionality on iOS to maintain a consistent experience across both platforms. Following the release of the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 26.4.10.73 update, which is available on the TestFlight app, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature that allows channel admins to create a profile.

As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring a feature that will allow channel admins to create a personal profile for their channel, scheduled for release in a future update. This feature allows channel admins to create an identity that is shown to followers when they post a channel update. For example, a business with a WhatsApp channel and multiple employees could ask each admin to create a personal profile so followers can see who posted a specific update. This will help promote transparency by clearly showing the source of each message with limited information.
When the feature becomes available in a future update, WhatsApp will show admins an option to create a profile directly within the channel info screen. The profile will be attached to every update shared by that specific admin. However, each update will reflect the profile details as they appeared at the time it was posted. This means that any changes to the admin's profile will only be reflected in the next update shared in the channel.
Each profile requires an admin image and a name. Once this information is entered, the admin will be shown a preview of how the next channel update will look once they share it. It's worth mentioning that channel admins always have control over their personal profile. This means channel admins will be able to delete their profile at any time in case their preferences change.
It's important to note that this feature allows channel admins to create a very limited profile. This means that WhatsApp will only display the information requested by the admin when creating their profile. Other details, such as the admin's phone number or push name, remain private and they are never shared with followers. In addition, followers will never be able to contact a channel admin privately, even if they have created a profile.
This new tool will also offer other advantages to channel admins. Knowing who shared a particular channel update makes it easier to track contributions. It will also provide a clear record of activity, which can be useful for accountability and planning future updates. When there are multiple channel admins, it allows responsibility to be clearly assigned and monitored, as each update can be traced back to the specific admin who posted it.
The feature that allows channel admins to create a profile is under development, and it's expected to be available in a future update. WhatsApp is currently enhancing how channel profiles appear in updates and how they are seen by followers. Once testing is complete, the feature will be rolled out to select beta testers, who can provide initial feedback and reports based on their experience.
