TAB FOR AI-POWERED CHATS

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.1.24 update, we announced that a feature to introduce a dedicated tab for AI-powered chats was under development. This tab, positioned within the bottom navigation bar, will be designed to centralize all AI-related functionalities, allowing users to explore and interact with various AI tools available on the platform in the future. It appears that WhatsApp now intends to bring the same AI-powered tab to iOS users in the future, ensuring a consistent experience across both platforms. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 25.3.10.73 update, which is available on the TestFlight app, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature to introduce a dedicated tab for AI-powered chats!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring the implementation of a feature that will replace the existing Communities tab with a new AI-powered chats tab, scheduled for release in a future update. Although the Communities section will no longer have a dedicated space in the bottom navigation bar, users will still be able to access all their joined communities through the Chats tab. Additionally, WhatsApp has ensured that users can continue creating new communities directly from the same tab, maintaining the functionality while shifting the focus toward AI-driven interactions.

This new AI-powered chats tab will allow users to explore a wide variety of chatbots, including those developed by Meta as well as third-party creators. The feature will work similarly to the AI Studio, which was previously introduced to some users in certain countries with the WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.15.10.72 update. However, it appears that WhatsApp aims to give this feature greater visibility by dedicating an entire tab to AI-powered chats, making it easier for users to access and engage with AI tools directly from the main bottom tab bar.

Through the new tab, users will have multiple ways to browse the AI chatbot catalog. They will be able to scroll through a structured list that highlights the most popular AI chatbots, featuring those with the highest engagement and the most shared messages. Additionally, WhatsApp is working on a dedicated screen where users can randomly explore different AI bots, so they can discover new and engaging chat experiences based on their interests. By integrating this new AI section, WhatsApp hopes to make chatbot interactions more accessible and engaging, offering users the opportunity to interact with different AI personalities, experiment with various features, and find chatbots that best suit their needs.

A feature to introduce a dedicated tab for AI-powered chats is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. We will keep you updated on any further developments about this feature until it's officially released.
