FAVORITES
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.4.10.76 update, we announced that WhatsApp is working on a custom chat filter feature for favorite contacts and groups. With this enhancement, WhatsApp aims to facilitate access to the most important conversations, allowing users to quickly find their favorite contacts and groups in the future. Although this feature is still in development on WhatsApp beta for iOS, it seems that WhatsApp plans to bring the same experience with favorites to the Android app as well, as discovered in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.9.33 update from the Google Play Store.

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is currently exploring a new feature to offer users a dedicated filter to quickly get a list of their favorites from the chats tab, set for release in a future update of the app. Users will be able to choose their favorites right within this filter in the future or from the app settings, as spotted in the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.9.19 update. The new chat filter will allow users to easily access and prioritize specific conversations with their favorite contacts and groups in an upcoming update, ensuring they don't miss any important messages.
In our opinion, the ability to designate favorite contacts and groups will benefit users to manage multiple conversations. While WhatsApp already offers users an enhanced experience with favorites within the calls tab, so a phone call is only a tap away, WhatsApp is now planning to bring similar functionality to the chat tab, allowing users to improve their messaging experience. This new feature will allow users to mark specific contacts and groups as favorites, making it easier to prioritize important chats and access those they engage with most often.
A favorites feature for the chats tab is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. We will share another article once we've gathered additional information about this feature.
