WHATSAPP DIALER

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.15.11 update, we announced that WhatsApp was rolling out a new feature to quickly open chats with unknown phone numbers. Through this enhancement, WhatsApp aimed to facilitate communication, enabling users to start conversations with new contacts without the need to save them in their contact list. It appears that WhatsApp is working on additional features to provide users with greater flexibility and convenience, especially for brief interactions or temporary communications, like connecting with a business or unknown contacts. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.9.28 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a new in-app dialer feature!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring a new feature to provide users with an in-app dialer, set for release in a future update. It is still unclear how WhatsApp intends to implement this feature, but a dialer within WhatsApp would offer the convenience of calling contacts without the need to save their phone numbers in the address book. Sometimes, users need to call someone for a temporary reason, like a business meeting, a quick question, or an online purchase. With a dialer inside WhatsApp, it will be possible to make that call without adding contacts to the address book or manually opening the conversation with them.

In our opinion, a dialer feature might bring several advantages to the user experience, as it would enable users to make voice calls without switching to the default stock dialer app. Calls made through WhatsApp use Internet data instead of traditional cellular networks, making them more cost-effective, especially for international calls. This is a major advantage for users who have access to Wi-Fi or low-cost data plans. It is worth noting that WhatsApp is known for its end-to-end encryption, which also extends to voice calls and video calls. We believe that having a dialer feature within the app could provide users with added privacy and security compared to traditional phone calls.

An in-app dialer feature is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. We will share another article once we've gathered additional information about this feature.
