WhatsApp lets community members create events and notify participants within groups
In the post about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.21.12 update, we announced a feature that lets community members create events. This feature will enable community members to create events for specific occasions. For example, they can create an event to organize online meetings through WhatsApp calls. WhatsApp will also notify the members within the community who have accepted the event invitation.
WhatsApp is finally testing this feature with the public. This means that some users can now create events in their communities. Additionally, they can choose to include a location and specify if a voice or video call is required. Once the event is sent, recipients in the community group chat can review and accept it. Instead, the creator can update its details at any time. In this case, members who have accepted the event will receive notifications of any modifications.
WhatsApp improves event visibility in communities and explores expansion to group chats
Events are listed within both the group chat info screen and the community home. So users can easily find them at any time. Events are end-to-end encrypted, so only participants in the conversation can access and respond to them. It's also worth noting that this feature is currently limited to communities.
