MANAGE FAVORITES
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.7.18 update, we announced that WhatsApp was rolling out a favorite feature for the calls tab. With this enhancement, WhatsApp aimed to improve the process of prioritizing and accessing important contacts and groups directly from the calls tab, as a phone call now becomes just a tap away. It appears that WhatsApp is committed to offering users a tool to quickly find the people and groups that matter most across WhatsApp. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.9.19 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature to manage favorites!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is currently exploring a feature to allow users to add, reorder, and remove their favorite contacts and groups right within the app settings, set for release in a future update of the app. Through this feature, WhatsApp aims to simplify the process of locating and managing favorite contacts and groups within the calls tab. This enhancement will be particularly beneficial as managing these favorites may currently be complicated for some users. It is important to note that when users designate contacts or groups as favorites, they won't receive notifications of this action.
In our opinion, the introduction of this feature might bring two significant advantages to the user experience. With this new section, WhatsApp aims to offer users greater control over their preferred contacts and groups, enabling them to customize their communication experience according to their individual preferences in the future. In addition, by centralizing the management of favorites within the app settings, users will be able to experiment with an enhanced and intuitive interface, eliminating the need to open the calls tab to manage them. We believe that this feature will be especially useful because favorite contacts and groups are set to play a central role through some future features.
A feature to manage favorites is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. We will share another article once we have additional information about this feature to share.
