AVATAR STICKERS
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.16.12 update, we announced that WhatsApp was releasing a feature to make avatars animated. With this enhancement, WhatsApp aimed to elevate the user experience by injecting dynamic elements into conversations, enhancing interactions and offering more expressive communication among users. It seems that WhatsApp's commitment to improving user interactions through stickers remains ongoing, as they are exploring new features in this area. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.6.8 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a new privacy feature to decide who can use your avatar in their stickers!
As you can see in the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is working on a new privacy setting to control who can feature your avatar in their stickers, for a future update of the app. Users will have the option to select from "My Contacts", "Selected Contacts", or "Nobody" to disable the feature. If both you and a contact allow this setting for each other, stickers featuring your avatar alongside theirs will be accessible in your chat.
In our opinion, this feature will empower users with greater control over their digital identity and privacy. By being able to specify who can use their avatar in stickers, users can ensure that their personal image is only shared with trusted contacts they're comfortable with. This reduces the risk of unauthorized use of avatars in stickers, providing a more secure and private messaging experience. In addition, allowing users to feature each other's avatars in stickers leads a more personalized form of communication. When users see their avatars incorporated into stickers shared by their contacts, it adds a personal touch to the conversation. We believe that this personalized interaction will boost engagement as users feel more connected and invested in the communication process.
The privacy feature to decide who can use your avatar in their stickers is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. We will share an additional article once we have further details about this feature.
