AUTOPLAY ANIMATED IMAGES
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.5.10 update, we announced that WhatsApp was working on a feature to share Lottie stickers. Through this enhancement, WhatsApp aims to revolutionize the way users express themselves in chats by integrating Lottie support for stickers, allowing for dynamic and fluid animations. It's worth noting that WhatsApp is also developing animated emojis, providing users with an even greater range of personalized expression in the future. Although these features are still in development, it seems that WhatsApp is now focusing on allowing users to have more control over these animations by implementing an option to manage them, as discovered in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.11.4 update from the Google Play Store.
As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring a feature to manage autoplay of animated images right within the app settings, set for release in a future update of the app. Specifically, this option will disable all animations for emojis, stickers, and avatars, providing them with enhanced control over their chat experience. Thanks to this feature, users will finally be able to toggle autoplay settings for some animated content, ensuring that they always have the flexibility to manage their preferences. It's important to note that this option is limited to disabling animations for emojis, stickers, and avatars, and does not affect GIFs.
With the update that will introduce animated emojis in the future, some users might be disturbed by the increased presence of animated content in their chats, as it could be distracting. However, WhatsApp's autoplay management feature will alleviate this concern by allowing users to customize their experience according to their preferences in the future. Whether users prefer a more enhanced chat interface with minimal animation or enjoy better dynamics of animated emojis, stickers, and avatars, this feature will allow them to find the perfect balance as it adds a new layer of accessibility to the app.
A feature to manage autoplay animated images is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. We will share another article once we've additional information about this feature.
