Status? Rolling out
Compatibility? WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.5.9 is marked as compatible update, but some users may be able to use the same feature on the previous update as well.
I've installed this update but I do not see the old interface. Why? Since this feature has been rolled out to certain beta testers, some time is needed to get the feature from the server.

OLD CONTACTS LIST

In the past days, WhatsApp has introduced a new interface when you open your contacts list. The new interface includes your frequently contacted people and groups, and your recent chats. After the update, we have published a tweet asking for your feedback about the new contact list:

A lot of people complained under the tweet: "It's horrible". People wanted the real contacts list in alphabetical order and the number of their total contacts. Finally, probably after receiving bad feedback, WhatsApp is now restoring the old interface. It means you can use the old contacts list again!
The feature is rolling out today, but it may be some time before being restored for everyone. Be sure to use the latest update of the Play Store that may help restore the functionality.
