|Previous news?||WhatsApp Messenger beta for iOS 184.108.40.206: what’s new?|
In the WhatsApp beta for Android 220.127.116.11 update, WhatsApp temporarily enabled end-to-end encrypted backups, to secure your backups while on Google Drive from unauthorized access, but it seems it has been enabled by mistake and it has been disabled in the 18.104.22.168 beta update. Yesterday it has been enabled for specific iOS beta testers in the WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.214.171.124 update.
Today WhatsApp is finally enabling the feature on WhatsApp for Android again, and we can confirm it’s not a mistake!
In order to protect your backup using end-to-end encryption, you can choose a personal password or a 64-bit encryption key. The choice is yours and you can discover technical details here.
Note that WhatsApp cannot help you to restore your chat history from an encrypted backup if you lose the password, so be sure to save it in a safe place. If the feature is not enabled for your WhatsApp account, the next beta updates should help you to receive the feature.
