WhatsApp has recently submitted a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.19.73.
Let’s find out together what is new ..
- The new Search by image feature is not available yet.
- WhatsApp is working on the feature in this update in order to ensure the best bug-free experience for you before to enable it for everyone.
- For this reason, it’s ok if you have updated your WhatsApp version and it’s not working for you seen that the feature is under development.
Some days ago, I’ve published on Twitter some posts about a new flag, added in WhatsApp beta for Android 2.19.56 and newer:
Do you want to use the new exclusive emoji in WhatsApp for #Android?
Type 🏳️⚧ in the chat and see the magic.
It's necessary WhatsApp beta for Android 2.19.56 or newer. The recipient needs to have the updated version too.

I don’t know why WhatsApp didn’t officially add it (even if the trick to send it was available), but today, thanks to the 2.19.73 beta update, you can finally send this emoji natively because it has been added in the keyboard!
There are other hidden emojis available, and we don’t know if WhatsApp is intentioned to make them visible in the next updates, as shown below:

WhatsApp is developing a new feature that allows to search an image on the Web that you sent/received in your chats.
We want to specify, as already done in our Important Notice, that this feature is not available yet.
If you select Search image, WhatsApp will alert you that it will be uploaded to Google:
This is very important because WhatsApp uses official Google APIs to find similar or equal images on the Web. After uploading the image to Google, WhatsApp will open the browser to show the results.
This feature will be very useful because it can help us to understand if a news is fake: when you receive an image, you can try to search it on the Web using this feature, so you can discover if it’s fake reading info on the Web related to that image.
I don’t know yet when WhatsApp is going to enable the feature for everyone. I can say that the feature seems ready with no-bugs available, but we know that WhatsApp is used to release features with delay. Let’s wait.
Let us know on Twitter if you like this feature and read our next announcements on our Telegram Channel!
