A concept reveals the focus mode status on WhatsApp

A concept is one of the best ways to request a new feature to be implemented on WhatsApp. Last year, we already shared a concept that revealed a feature to hide the online status on WhatsApp and we want to share our recent concept to improve WhatsApp today: the ability to share the focus mode status!

I've installed this update but I don't see this feature. Why? Unfortunately, this feature is a concept so it is not a real WhatsApp feature, but we hope to see it implemented in the future.

FOCUS MODE STATUS

Some weeks ago, we shared the details about a new feature released to some iOS beta testers: the ability to detect whether the do not disturb mode is enabled right within iPhone Settings. WhatsApp uses this information to let you know if a call was missed due to the do not disturb mode. We think this is useful, but it is not enough. Since WhatsApp is able to get the do not disturb status by using an iOS 15 API, the company may use the same information to develop another feature that's already available on iMessage: the ability to share the focus mode status right within WhatsApp chats!

As you can see in this concept, when you open a WhatsApp chat with contacts that have a focus mode enabled, there will be a new system message placed at the bottom of the conversation so you can understand whether a contact is available for a conversation. Yes, people may not want to share this information on WhatsApp, so there should be implemented a new toggle right within WhatsApp Settings to manage this feature. Still, this concept is not limited to WhatsApp for iOS but it may also be implemented on WhatsApp beta for Android since there is an official API to get the do not disturb status on Android as well.

As we said above, this is a concept, unfortunately, so it’s not a real WhatsApp feature planned to be implemented in a future update. Note that, since concepts are the best way to suggest new features for the future, everything is possible and we hope to see this feature implemented at a later date.
If we have more details to share with you, there will be a new article on this website.
