PRIVATE AI MESSAGE SUMMARIES

  1. With the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.19.11 update, some users can experiment with a new feature that lets them generate AI-powered wallpapers to personalize their chats. Users can choose from suggested images or enter custom prompts to create unique designs using Meta AI. These wallpapers can be applied globally or set individually for specific conversations.
  2. In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.19.14 update, we announced that WhatsApp is working on a new feature that gives users more control over their advertising experience by allowing them to view recent ads and manage which advertisers can show them promotions. This feature will be accessible from the Updates tab and the app settings, allowing users to review a history of ads seen in Status and Channels, along with the option to hide or restore specific advertisers. At the top of the section, WhatsApp will clearly remind users that all personal messages, calls, and statuses are end-to-end encrypted and never used for ad targeting. Ad recommendations will only rely on limited, non-personal data like general location, app language, or channel interactions, and phone numbers are never shared with advertisers.
  3. WhatsApp is developing a feature that lets users request a detailed report of ads viewed in Status and Channels, as announced in the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.19.15 update. The downloadable report, delivered as a ZIP file, will likely include data like which ads appeared, when they were shown, and the advertisers involved. Users will also be able to opt into automatic monthly reports, providing regular insights without needing to make manual requests.
  4. The WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.19.21 update allows some beta testers to scan documents directly within WhatsApp using their phone's camera, eliminating the need for third-party apps. Users can choose between manual capture for precise control or automatic mode, which detects edges and snaps the photo quickly. Once captured, the image is converted into a PDF locally on the device and can be securely shared via end-to-end encryption.
  5. WhatsApp has introduced a new feature called Message Summaries, which uses private AI to generate quick overviews of unread chats, helping users catch up without reading every message. The feature runs on Meta's Private Processing technology, ensuring that neither Meta nor WhatsApp can see the messages or summaries. Message Summaries is optional and off by default, with users able to control its use through Advanced Chat Privacy settings and choose which chats can access AI features. Currently available in English for U.S. users, the feature will expand to more languages and regions later this year.

  1. With the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.19.13 update, some beta testers can now access drawing tools, stickers, emojis, and music directly from the text status composer. These tools appear within the text status screen, allowing users to add visual and audio elements over a solid-colored background without switching to photo or video mode. Users can draw, place emojis or stickers, and attach songs before posting their status.
  2. The WhatsApp beta for iOS 25.18.10.82 update also offers iOS users the same ability to add stickers and emojis directly to text statuses. This update transforms the formerly text-only format into a customizable canvas, allowing placement of decorative and content stickers like music, location, and "Add Yours". With this feature, users can now create more expressive, media-rich status updates without needing to upload photos or videos.
  3. The WhatsApp for iOS 25.18.85 update allows users to add their personalized avatar to their profile, adding a fun alternative to their regular picture. Once an avatar is created, users can choose a background color and one of five animated poses, which will then appear with a flip animation beside their profile photo. The avatar setup is fully customizable and can be changed or removed anytime through profile settings.
  4. In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.19.17 update, we announced that some beta testers can now manage notifications for all chats within a specific list by adjusting settings either from the list menu or the app settings. This feature allows users to mute or customize notifications for grouped chats without notifying contacts, while still receiving alerts if mentioned in muted groups.
