WhatsApp is working on the ability to show the phone number visibility on Desktop beta
After sharing the details about the ability to assign chats to linked devices, there is another feature under development that involves chats between businesses and customers: the ability to show the phone number visibility, available in a future update of WhatsApp Desktop beta!

PHONE NUMBER VISIBILITY
We already talked about this feature last week, thanks to the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.19.19 update: we spotted the details about the ability to show the phone number visibility right within a business chat. In fact, we explained that it will be possible to contact certain business via Click to WhatsApp ad without sharing the phone number with them, in some cases, and this is exactly what's under development on WhatsApp Desktop beta:
As you can see in this screenshot, there will be a new option within chat info that lets us discover if our phone number is visible to the business. Note that we also spotted the same option during the development of the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.17.23 update so it means that WhatsApp keeps working on this feature on all their platforms.
As we said in our previous articles, the development of this feature does not involve your phone number being always hidden when contacting businesses: it may be hidden when contacting the business via an ad in some cases. This is very important so we prefer to point it out more than once and e will find out exactly when it is hidden in the future.
Unfortunately, this feature is under development and we do not know when it will be rolled out to users but we will immediately let you know when we have important news to share with you.
