SEND MESSAGES TO YOURSELF
One of the missing features of multi-device is the ability to send messages to yourself from a linked device. In fact, some people were used to sending messages to themselves by opening the chat with their own phone number for several reasons, for example, to save something important. Unfortunately, this is no longer possible when using multi-device because the chat with their own phone number only shows up on the primary device but WhatsApp is finally developing a solution to release in a future update of WhatsApp Desktop beta:
As you can see in this screenshot, when you are searching for contacts within WhatsApp Desktop beta, you will be able to send messages to yourself by tapping your personal chat in the future. Note that this chat will also show up when you try to log into WhatsApp from another different mobile device when the feature will be released to people at a later date. As always, even if the screenshot is taken from WhatsApp Desktop beta, WhatsApp also plans to introduce the same feature to WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS as well when it is possible to use a secondary phone as a linked device.
This is one of the missing features of the current multi-device version, and more should be supported in the future: the feature to clear or delete chats on linked devices if the primary device is an iPhone, the ability to view live location on linked devices, and the option to create and view broadcast lists on linked devices.
Unfortunately, this feature is under development and it will be released in a future update of the app and we will keep you up to date when there is news.
