WhatsApp is working on a status reply indicator
After discovering some new features for status updates, we can now announce that another one is under development today: a reply indicator for status updates, available in a future version of WhatsApp beta for Android, iOS, and Desktop!

STATUS REPLY INDICATOR
For the past few weeks, WhatsApp is focusing on adding some improvements to status updates. After spotting that the company is working on improving links previews and a feature to show status updates right within the chats list, WhatsApp is now developing a status reply indicator:
As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp will show a different icon when the latest message in the chat is a reply to a status update. This is a minor addition but it will also be useful when receiving a quick reaction to your status updates, in a future version of WhatsApp, so you can immediately understand what the recipient is referring to. Note that, even if the screenshot is taken from WhatsApp Desktop beta, WhatsApp is working on bringing the same feature to WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS: more details may be available in the next few days.
As always, this feature is under development. Probably you might be wondering why a minor feature like this is not immediately released: development plans can quickly change after some time, so WhatsApp may also discard the feature. When the company is sure that the feature can really be useful for the app, it will be released to the public.
