SECRET CODE
Two weeks ago, we shared an article regarding a new feature in development for a future update of WhatsApp Web: the introduction of Chat Lock. This new feature aims to extend the functionality of locked chats to the web client, ensuring that users can enjoy enhanced privacy and security across all platforms. While support for locked chats is still in progress and planned for a future update of WhatsApp Web, we discovered that WhatsApp is actively enhancing this functionality by introducing a secret code feature for locked chats!

As you can see in the attached screenshot, WhatsApp will promptly ask to enter the secret code to open the list of locked chats, which was previously configured on the mobile device. We had already anticipated this requirement when WhatsApp began developing locked chats, as it is needed to protect user privacy and ensure that their sensitive conversations always remain secure and protected through a PIN.
One significant advantage of implementing a secret code feature to protect the list of locked chats on WhatsApp Web is the reinforcement of privacy and security for users. By requiring a secret code to access the list of locked chats, WhatsApp will provide an additional layer of defense against unauthorized access to sensitive conversations. In addition, this feature ensures that even users who may share their desktop devices or work in shared environments can maintain the confidentiality of their conversations. Even if someone gains physical access to the computer or device being used for WhatsApp Web, they cannot view the locked chats without the secret code, safeguarding private communications.
The secret code feature to secure locked chats and enhance privacy is under development and it will be available in a future update of the web client. As usual, we have plans to publish another article once we have new details regarding this feature to share with you.
