WhatsApp is testing a feature to edit polls in chats and groups
In the post about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.26.6.7 update, we announced new improvements for polls. Specifically, WhatsApp is working on adding an option that will allow voters to remain anonymous. This option will ensure that when someone votes, others cannot see who selected a particular answer. Additionally, WhatsApp is developing another option to choose when the poll will expire. With this option, users can decide the exact date when the poll will no longer accept responses.
Note that these features are currently under development. WhatsApp is refining the experience to make it clearer to users when these options are active. In the meantime, WhatsApp keeps enhancing polls by developing new tools designed to further improve the user experience. Following the release of the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.26.11.10 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature that allows users to edit their polls.

As you can see from the attached image, WhatsApp is exploring a new feature that lets users edit polls they share in their chats and groups. This feature is scheduled for release in a future update. If you aren't familiar with polls, they allow users to ask a question and offer multiple options for others to choose from. Polls make it easier to gather opinions within a chat or group. Once a poll is shared, its options cannot be changed in order to keep the responses consistent and ensure that the results remain accurate.
However, there are situations where updating a poll may be helpful. For example, you might want to change the title of a poll if the original wording was unclear. Or, you might want to update the poll by fixing a minor typo in the title. Unfortunately, there is no way to edit a poll. In this case, users must delete the poll and share another one with the correct details.
WhatsApp will finally address these issues by introducing poll editing in the future. This feature will enable users to correct their typos or clarify confusing titles without deleting and recreating the poll. This enhancement will make it easier for users to keep their previous response in case they need to update the poll title without losing their original vote. This means that the conversation remains uninterrupted, as participants won't have to resubmit their votes every time the poll is edited.
Users will be able to edit a poll right within a dedicated option. After selecting the poll, users will find the option to edit the poll right within the message option in the overflow menu. Selecting this option will let users edit the poll title. However, users won't be able to edit individual poll options once they have been created. This limitation is designed to preserve the accuracy of what users already submitted. As a result, what participants choose remain accurate and the poll results are not distorted by changing the options after people have voted.
Once users edit a poll, it will be clearly marked as edited. This label will appear right within the message bubble, so everyone in the chat can see it. Participants will know that the poll creator updated the poll after the original version was shared. WhatsApp aims to prevent confusion about the poll results through this transparency. So everyone will be aware of the most up-to-date information when reviewing their votes.
The feature that allows users to edit their polls is currently under development, and it is planned for release in a future update. At the moment, WhatsApp is refining how the app lets users edit their polls. Once testing is complete, WhatsApp will release this feature to some beta testers, making it easier for users to correct mistakes.
