MESSAGE REACTIONS
In the past weeks, WhatsApp has released the ability to react to messages after installing certain updates of WhatsApp beta for Android (WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.8.3 and WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.9.4) and WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.9.0.71, but only a few people were able to send message reactions. Probably, this is because WhatsApp wanted to be sure that the feature was properly working without critical issues.
A few hours ago, Mark Zuckerberg has announced on Facebook that message reactions are coming today and it is so: starting today, WhatsApp is finally -- but slowly -- releasing the feature to everyone on WhatsApp for Android, iOS, and Desktop!
This version of message reactions brings 6 emojis: Like, Love, Laugh, Suprised, Sad, and Thanks.
Reactions are available for chats and groups and, when you tap and hold a message bubble, you can react to a message by choosing one emoji. You can see who reacted to any incoming and outgoing message by tapping the reaction icon: a reaction info section shows up that lists all people with the emoji they used to react to the message.
Every time someone reacts to your messages, you receive a push notification: this is enabled by default but you can also disable notifications for reactions by opening your notification settings within WhatsApp.
The feature is finally rolling out to more people today, but note that the feature will take up to 7 days to reach everyone. If you don't have a beta version, do not worry since you do not need to install it since the feature is also compatible with stable builds: for this reason, be sure to use an updated version of WhatsApp by opening App Store, TestFlight, or Play Store in order to get more chances to receive the feature today!
Note that this is only the first version of message reactions, since another version is under development that will let people react to messages by using any emoji, and it will be available in a future update with other miscellaneous improvements, so be sure to frequently visit this website to discover when the feature is available!
