WhatsApp is Introducing Cover Photos on the Android app

After months of anticipation, WhatsApp has officially begun rolling out the cover photo feature to select users on WhatsApp Business beta for Android. This update comes two months after the same functionality was introduced with the WhatsApp Business beta for iOS 22.9.0.70 update, giving businesses a new way to personalize their profiles and improve their professional appearance.

The cover photo feature allows businesses to upload a banner image that appears at the top of their profile page, similar to the cover photo layout on Facebook or LinkedIn. This feature gives brands and entrepreneurs the ability to visually showcase their business identity, highlight products, or add a personal touch to their WhatsApp presence. With the latest update, some businesses can now choose to add a cover photo to their profile.

How to Choose a Cover Photo

Users who are part of the WhatsApp Business beta program can easily find out if the feature is available on their account. When enabled, a new banner will appear at the top of the Chats tab, inviting users to set up a cover photo for their business. To add or change a cover photo, users need to open the app settings and open their Profile. Here, it's possible to tap on the cover photo section to upload a new image from the app gallery or take a new one. It's worth noting that it is also possible to view cover photos set by other businesses by opening their business profile directly from a chat or search result.

Benefits of Using a WhatsApp Cover Photo

The introduction of cover photos marks another significant step in WhatsApp's push to make business profiles more engaging and customizable. By allowing businesses to visually represent their brand, the app strengthens its position as a marketing and communication tool for small and medium enterprises. It can be used to showcase a company's logo or storefront, highlight seasonal promotions or new product launches, and even include key details such as contact information or a catchy business slogan. Beyond aesthetics, this visual element helps enhance brand recognition and build trust with customers by presenting a more polished and professional profile.

WhatsApp is Gradually Rolling Out Cover Photos for Businesses

According to recent reports, the cover photo update is currently rolling out to a limited group of WhatsApp Business beta testers. While WhatsApp has not confirmed the gradual release, it's expected that more users will gain access to this feature in the coming weeks as the company expands testing and collects feedback from early adopters.
