WhatsApp is releasing the ability to hide the online status to more people on Android beta
After releasing the ability to manage who can see when you're online on WhatsApp, WhatsApp is now rolling out this feature to more beta testers that install the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.21.8 update from the Play Store!

WHO CAN SEE WHEN I'M ONLINE
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.20.9 update, we explained that WhatsApp released a new privacy setting that lets some beta testers the ability to manage who can see when they're online but this was only available to some lucky people. Another rollout was available to more beta testers after installing the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.20.11 update but it was not enough since a lot of users still couldn't use this feature. Fortunately, WhatsApp is finally rolling the feature to other people today!
If the feature was not available for you, maybe it is finally released to your WhatsApp account today: just check WhatsApp Settings > Account > Privacy. If you see "Last seen and online", it means you can finally manage who can see when you're online on WhatsApp! The best guide to configure this feature is available here.
In case the feature is still not available for your WhatsApp account, you're out of luck and you have to wait for another update, unfortunately. We will keep announcing when WhatsApp is releasing the feature to more and more people by publishing another article.
