NEW MESSAGE REACTIONS

Two months ago, we announced a new version of message reactions was under development on WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS: thanks to the new version, it would have been possible to react to messages by using any available emoji on the keyboard. It's been two months and WhatsApp is already releasing the feature to some beta testers that are using these versions: WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.15.6, 2.22.15.7, and WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.14.0.71!

In order to verify if the feature is already enabled for your WhatsApp account, you need to try to react to a message: if a new plus icon is visible right within the reaction tray, it means you can already use any emoji to react to messages! When you tap the plus icon, the keyboard is invoked on WhatsApp beta for Android. Instead, when using WhatsApp beta for iOS, there is a draggable section where you can easily select and search for any emoji.

If the feature is not available for your WhatsApp account, do not worry because there is nothing wrong with your installation of WhatsApp. WhatsApp is planning to release the feature to more beta testers over the coming weeks: in fact, the same happened when the company released the first version of message reactions to users. The difference is that the beta version is now needed in order to get the feature, and people that use stable releases of WhatsApp for Android and iOS will be able to use the new version of message reactions in the future.
