WhatsApp Update on App Store Introduces Unified Call Hub

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.27.4 update, we announced that a feature that introduces a new unified call hub was available. This functionality consolidates all call-related actions into a single, organized interface, allowing Android users to start calls, schedule future calls, access the dialer, and manage their favorite contacts without navigating through multiple screens. By providing quick access to voice and video calls, messaging, and call scheduling, the unified call hub simplifies interactions and makes it easier for users to connect with individuals or groups.

It appears that WhatsApp now intends to offer iOS users the same unified call hub as it already does for the Android version, aiming to provide a consistent experience across both platforms. This update reflects WhatsApp's ongoing effort to streamline its calling features for all users. Following the release of the latest WhatsApp for iOS 25.27.73 update, which is available on the App Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is rolling out a feature that improves accessibility and interaction within the Calls tab!

Unified Call Hub Streamlines Communication on iOS

With the latest update, some users can explore a new unified call hub directly within the Calls tab on iOS. This interface brings a more organized layout that centralizes all call-related actions in one place. Users can now start calls, schedule future conversations, and access the dialer without switching between different menus. The new design reduces the number of steps required to start or manage calls while making the Calls tab more intuitive and efficient for everyday communication.

Quick Access to Calls and Scheduling Features

One of the standout improvements of the new layout is the ability to initiate calls through a new shortcut, which works in the same way as the "+" button in the top-right corner of the screen. This means that users can also start one-on-one conversations or connect with up to 31 people at once through this shortcut. Additionally, the scheduling feature allows users to plan calls in advance and share the event in a chat, ensuring that all participants are aware of the event. This combination of instant and planned calling options offers a flexible solution for both personal and professional use, both offered by the new hub.

Dedicated Dialer and Business Account Verification

The update also introduces an alternate shortcut to the dialer, a feature we previously announced in the article about the WhatsApp for iOS 25.1.80 update. The dialer simplifies the process of calling any number registered on WhatsApp, providing an easy way to connect without needing to save the contact beforehand. Furthermore, the system confirms whether a number is linked to a WhatsApp account, offering additional verification for business profiles. This ensures that users can trust the authenticity of the contacts they are reaching out to.

Enhanced Management of Favorite Contacts

Favorite contacts remain a central part of the Calls tab, but their placement has been redesigned to align with the new options. Users can quickly initiate a voice or video call, send a message, or manage their list of favorites with ease. The updated shortcut allows adding, removing, or reordering favorites in just a few taps, making the experience more personalized and aligned with user preferences. By integrating favorites directly into the hub, WhatsApp reduces unnecessary steps and makes communication with important contacts faster.

Users can easily favorite their contacts or groups to instantly start a call with just one tap, similar to how speed dial works. This makes it easier for users to stay connected with the people they contact most frequently. As always, favorites can be managed directly within the dedicated Favorites section, accessible through the shortcut inside the hub. From there, users can also reorder their favorites, which affects how they appear in the Chats tab for quicker access.

Why the Unified Call Hub Matters

The unified call hub is more than just a visual redesign, as it represents a shift towards centralization and simplicity. By merging all essential calling features into one accessible location, WhatsApp reduces friction and improves usability for faster interactions. This is especially valuable for those who frequently make group calls, schedule meetings, or manage multiple contacts. As a result, the new hub transforms the Calls tab into a complete communication center rather than a simple call log.

Rollout and Availability

At the moment, the unified call hub on iOS is available only to a limited group of users who have updated to the latest version from the App Store. As with many WhatsApp features, the rollout will be gradual, ensuring stability before wider availability. Users who do not yet see the feature are advised to keep their app updated to the latest version. Over the coming weeks, WhatsApp is expected to expand access, making the new interface the standard experience for all iOS users.
