STAR CHANNEL UPDATES
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.26.18 update, we announced that a feature to mark channel updates as starred was under development. This feature will allow users to easily save specific updates from channels for quick access later, making it easier to retrieve important information without having to sift through the entire channel history. Although this feature is still in development on WhatsApp beta for Android, it appears that WhatsApp intends to offer iOS users a similar experience with channels in the future, ensuring consistency across both platforms. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 25.2.10.71 update, which is available on the TestFlight app, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature to mark channel updates as starred!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring the implementation of a feature that allows users to mark channel updates as starred, scheduled for release in a future update. Currently, the ability to star updates is only available in individual and group chats, but with this upcoming update, users will be able to mark specific updates from channels as starred, making it easier to retrieve them without having to scroll through the entire channel history. To mark a channel update as important, users will simply need to tap and hold on the update and select the "star" option from the context menu. This process is similar to how users can star a message, making it intuitive and easy to use for anyone familiar with starring messages in their conversations.
The starred updates will be stored in a dedicated list within the channel info screen for seamless access. In addition, these will be listed within the section that groups all starred messages from the app settings, allowing users to easily manage and view their saved content. However, users will need to follow a channel in order to use this feature, and if they unfollow a channel, any starred updates from that channel will be removed. We believe that this new feature will enhance the user experience, as it will make it more practical for users to keep track of important content such as announcements, event details, and other valuable information shared through channels.
A feature to mark channel updates as starred is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. We will keep you updated on any further developments about this feature until it's officially released.
