BULK CHANNEL MANAGEMENT

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.11.8 update, we announced that a feature to quickly explore new channels was available to some beta testers. This feature introduces a new shortcut in the updates tab, making it easier for users to discover and follow channels that match their interests. The update also added the ability for users to select multiple channels at once to perform bulk actions, such as muting, marking them as read, or pinning. It appears that WhatsApp now intends to offer iOS users the same opportunity to better manage channels as it already does for the Android version, aiming to provide a consistent experience across both platforms. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 25.1.10.74 update, which is available on TestFlight, we discovered that WhatsApp is rolling out a bulk management feature for channels!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, some beta testers can now explore a new feature that allows them to select multiple channels simultaneously. This selection enables users to perform various bulk actions, which significantly enhances the management of their followed channels. Specifically, users can mute multiple channels at once and marking them as read in bulk. Additionally, the feature gives users the option to either mute or activate notifications for multiple channels in one go. If the selected channels are already muted, the option to turn on notifications will appear, while if they are not muted, the option to mute them will be presented.

Prior to this update, users had to manage each channel individually, making it more time-consuming and less efficient. They were unable to mute or mark channels as read in bulk, so they had to repeat the same actions for each channel separately. The bulk management feature for channels introduces a new level of convenience, allowing users to enhance their experience by managing several channels at once with just a few taps. Another notable feature of this update is that users can now unfollow multiple channels at the same time, eliminating the need to go through each channel one by one. This improvement significantly reduces the effort required to clean up the channel list, especially for those who follow numerous channels.

With this new multi-channel selection feature, users are given more flexibility and control over their subscriptions. We believe that it enhances the overall user experience, providing an intuitive way to handle notifications and content preferences across multiple channels simultaneously. These bulk actions also extend to managing channels more effectively, especially when dealing with large numbers of channels that users no longer wish to follow or receive notifications from.

A bulk management feature for channels is available to some beta testers who install the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app, and it's rolling out to more people over the coming weeks.
