QUICK STATUS REACTION
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.9.23 update, we announced a new quick reaction feature in development for status updates. This feature was designed to enhance user engagement by providing a convenient way to express appreciation for status updates without cluttering our conversations. Although this feature is still under development on WhatsApp beta for Android, it seems that WhatsApp is now in the process of bringing the same quick status reaction feature to the iOS app as well, as discovered in the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.9.10.70 update from the TestFlight app.

As you can see in the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is testing an upgraded reaction feature aimed at allowing users to quickly react to status updates, set for release in a future update. With this enhancement, users will be promptly able to express their appreciation by liking status updates. It's worth mentioning that these reactions will primarily be visible within the status screen, rather than within the conversation with the person who reacted to the update. This differs from the current behavior where reactions to status updates using emojis typically appear within the conversation, maintaining clutter-free conversations while facilitating easy engagement with status updates.
It is very important to mention that the quick reaction feature for status updates is fully compatible with end-to-end encryption. This ensures the complete security and privacy of quick reactions exchanged between users, as neither WhatsApp nor any third parties can access or view these reactions. In addition, we believe that listing all reactions in the status update screen will prove beneficial, as users will easily be able to review who liked their content without navigating through multiple conversations.
It is worth noting that all beta users may notice a tweaked camera icon within the chat bar to better align with the look of the microphone button. In addition, it is now possible to experiment with new haptic feedback on compatible devices when sharing photos, videos, and documents from the attachment picker. Install this update to try out these minor improvements today.
A quick reaction feature for status updates is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. As always, we will continue to provide updates on any further developments regarding this feature until it is officially released.
