CHANNEL UPDATE VIEWS
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.24.15 update, we announced a new feature in development to track the view count of channel updates. This feature was designed to offer both channel owners and followers valuable insights into the reach and engagement of the content shared in a channel. Although this feature is still under development on WhatsApp beta for Android, it seems that WhatsApp is now in the process of introducing the same feature to track views of channel updates for the iOS app as well, as discovered in the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.8.10.74 update from the TestFlight app.

As you can see in the attached screenshot, the number of views for a specific channel update will be displayed within the message bubble, set to release in a future update of the app. This feature not only assists channel owners in understanding the audience reach of their updates but also enables them to estimate the number of users with notifications enabled for their channel who have viewed the content. It's important to highlight that this functionality extends beyond channel owners, as followers will also have visibility into the view count of channel updates.
In our opinion, introducing a feature to track the view count of channel updates will offer several advantages, as it enhances the user experience by providing valuable insights. This capability will enable both users and organizations using WhatsApp Channels as a broadcasting tool to understand the impact and reach of their updates. With this information, users will also be able to discern which content resonates most with their audience, facilitating the creation of more engaging and informative updates. In addition, we believe that the knowledge that views are being tracked may serve as a motivation for channel owners to generate more content that is both compelling and informative for their followers.
A feature to track the view count of channel updates is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. As always, we will continue to provide updates on any further developments regarding this feature until it is officially released.
