STATUS UPDATES TRAY
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.4.3 update, we announced a feature in development to bring a redesigned interface to the status updates tray. With this enhancement, WhatsApp aimed to introduce a more modern interface for the updates tab, allowing users to get a preview of their contacts' status updates in the future. Although this feature is still under development on WhatsApp beta for Android, it seems that WhatsApp is now in the process of introducing the same revamped interface for the status updates tray on the iOS app as well, as discovered in the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.8.10.71 update from the TestFlight app.

As you can see in the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring a redesigned interface for the status updates tray, for a future update of the app. The tray remains positioned at the top of the updates tab, ensuring its immediate accessibility and visibility upon opening this section. It is important to note that this updated interface will now offer users the ability to preview the initial shared status update via a thumbnail, eliminating the necessity to open each update separately.
In our opinion, this update will represent significant enhancement to user experience, as many users requested the feature to preview status updates shared by their contacts. The introduction of the new updates tab removed this ability, leading to frustration and inconvenience. Thanks to the redesigned status updates tray, WhatsApp aims to address these concerns by enabling users to preview status updates through a large thumbnail directly within the tray in the future. We consider this as a demonstration of their dedication to enhancing usability by prioritizing user feedback and introducing a refreshed interface for this section.
A fresh interface for the status updates tray is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. As always, we will keep providing updates on any further developments regarding this feature until its release.
