AVATAR STICKERS

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.25.20 update, we announced a new feature in development to control who can feature your avatar in their stickers. This feature was designed to provide users with greater control over their digital identity, as other users will be able to use your style and appearance in their avatar stickers in the future. Although this feature is still under development on WhatsApp beta for Android, it seems that WhatsApp is now in the process of bringing the same privacy setting to the iOS app as well, as discovered in the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.6.10.74 update from the TestFlight app.

As you can see in the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring a new privacy feature to allow users to control who can use their appearance in their avatar stickers, for a future update of the app. Currently, WhatsApp intends to introduce three distinct privacy options to manage this feature: "My Contacts", enabling anyone from your contacts list to use your appearance, "Selected Contacts", restricting the choice to trusted contacts only, or "Nobody", allowing users to disable this feature entirely. It is important to note that, if both you and a contact allow this setting for each other, stickers featuring your avatar with theirs will be accessible in your chat.

We anticipate that this feature will enhance user engagement by offering a more personalized and secure messaging experience. With the option to control who can feature their avatar in stickers, users will be able to maintain control over their digital identity, ensuring that only approved contacts can access to feature their avatar stickers. In addition, by empowering users with this control, we believe that WhatsApp underscores its dedication to enhancing privacy and respecting user preferences while also leading a greater sense of trust and security within the platform.

A privacy feature to control who can use your avatar in their stickers is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. As always, we will keep providing updates on any further developments regarding this feature until its release.
