ANNOUNCEMENT REPLIES

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.4.12 update, we announced that WhatsApp was rolling out a feature to reply to messages in community announcement groups. With this enhancement, WhatsApp aimed to improve engagement between community members and admins, with the goal to offer a tool to enhance interaction. After installing the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.6.10.72 update, which is available on the TestFlight app, we discovered that WhatsApp is also rolling out the same feature to reply to messages in community announcement groups on the iOS app!

As you can see in the attached screenshot, some users may experiment with a feature to reply to messages shared in community announcement groups. Only community admins can share messages in such groups but, with the introduction of the announcement reply feature, participation is no longer limited to administrators. In fact, anyone can now engage actively by replying to messages within these groups and read replies shared by other community members. It's worth noting that sending replies is unavailable when the community announcement group has over 1024 members.

We believe that the introduction of this reply feature marks a significant enhancement in community engagement. In the previous updates, users were required to respond to messages shared in the community announcement group either privately or within one of the community groups. This often caused confusion, particularly for the admin who shared the message, as they could lose track of the conversation flow. With this new feature, everything will be more organized, enabling other community members to read additional responses. This would also eliminate the need for repeatedly asking the same questions since all replies will be centralized within the announcement group, making it easier for members to follow the discussion thread and access any relevant information shared by others.

The feature to to reply to messages in community announcement groups is available to some beta testers who install the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app, and it's rolling out to more people over the coming weeks.
