COMMUNITIES

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.21.10 update, we announced that WhatsApp was rolling out a feature to allow businesses to view and manage communities. The previous configuration on WhatsApp for Android restricted access to the communities tab within the customer app, limiting businesses in managing their communities. A few days ago, the WhatsApp Business beta for iOS 24.5.10.74 update was released on the TestFlight app. Thanks to this update, we discovered that WhatsApp is rolling out the ability to view and manage communities from the business version of the app!

As you can see in this screenshot, a new feature allowing beta testers to explore their communities through a convenient entry point within the app settings is now available. This enhancement grants businesses the capability to access a comprehensive list of previously joined communities, including their subgroups and community announcement groups. In addition, businesses can now initiate the creation of new communities directly within this section, mirroring the functionality available to regular users within the customer app.

We believe that granting businesses the ability to view and manage communities marks a notable advancement. Previously, although businesses could join communities via group invite links, they lacked the ability to access a comprehensive list of groups within a community, as this feature was unavailable on WhatsApp Business. With the recent update, businesses now possess equivalent capabilities to app customer users in navigating through community group chats, enhancing their interaction and management with communities.

The feature to view and manage communities from the business version is available to some beta testers who install the latest versions of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app, and it's rolling out to more people over the coming weeks.
