TRANSFER CHANNEL OWNERSHIP
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.2.10.70 update, we announced that WhatsApp was working on a feature to allow channel owners to transfer the ownership of their channels. Thanks to this enhancement, users would have been able to transfer the responsibility of managing their channels to other trusted admins, providing them with greater flexibility and control. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.4.10.70 update, which is available on the TestFlight app, we discovered that WhatsApp is rolling out the ability to transfer the channel ownership to some beta testers!

As you can see in the attached screenshot, certain beta testers now have access to a new option in the channel info screen, allowing them to transfer ownership of their channels easily. However, it is important to note that the recipient must accept the invite to become the new channel owner to complete the operation. Some beta testers who install the recent WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.4.21 update can already experiment with the transfer ownership option within their channels, getting a firsthand experience of this feature.
In our opinion, transferring channel ownership becomes beneficial when a user wishes to relinquish responsibility for managing the channel due to various reasons, such as time constraints, shifting priorities, or personal circumstances. By transferring ownership, the user can effectively delegate the most important administrative tasks to another trusted contact, ensuring that the channel remains active and operational. This enables the user to step back from the responsibilities of managing the channel while still maintaining its continuity and ensuring that it continues to thrive under new leadership.
The feature to transfer the channel ownership is available to some beta testers who install the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app, and it's rolling out to more people over the coming days.
