PASSKEY
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.20.4 update, we announced that WhatsApp was releasing a Passkey feature to help users verify their accounts in those situations where they experience a problem while logging into WhatsApp. This feature was designed to offer users an enhanced and secure experience when accessing their accounts, achieved through the implementation of innovative solutions that prioritize both security and convenience. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.2.10.73 update, which is available on the TestFlight app, we discovered that WhatsApp is finally working on bringing this feature to a future update of the iOS app!

As you can see in the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is currently in process of developing a new section where users will be able to configure their own passkey in the future. This passkey configuration will definitely enhance the login process, eliminating the need for the 6-digit code to access your account. After configuring the passkey, users will be able to log into their accounts by using their existing authentication methods, such as Face ID, Touch ID, or the device passcode.
In our opinion, the passkey feature adds an additional layer of security and convenience to user accounts by eliminating the necessity for a 6-digit code every time users access their accounts. The passkey feature also aligns with modern authentication methods, making the login process more user-friendly and intuitive. It's important to note that this feature will be optional, providing users with the flexibility to enable it at their discretion. If users choose to configure a passkey for their convenience, they will be able to disable this feature at any time through the app settings. In addition, in situations where users need to log into WhatsApp on a different device where the passkey is not available, they will still be able to request and use the traditional 6-digit code for authentication. This ensures that users have control over their security preferences and can adapt the login method based on their specific needs and circumstances.
The passkey feature for account verification is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. We will keep you updated if there are any further developments or news related to this feature.
