MESSAGE DRAFT
Last year, we shared a story where we announced message draft support for desktop apps. This feature allowed users to start composing messages and be notified of incomplete drafts directly from the chats list, making it easier to manage unsent messages. It appears that WhatsApp now intends to offer iOS users the same opportunity to see incomplete messages as drafts directly from the chats list, similar to what is already available on the desktop app. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.18.10.72 update, which is available on TestFlight, we discovered that WhatsApp is rolling out a message draft feature!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, some beta testers can now explore a new feature to quickly identify chats containing unfinished messages. The new draft feature makes it easier to spot these unsent messages within the chat list. Previously, there was no clear indication in the chats list, and users had to manually check conversations to see if they had left any messages unfinished. With the introduction of the new draft label, users can quickly identify which conversations contain unsent messages without needing to open each chat individually.
We believe that this feature is particularly useful for users who may be interrupted while messaging, as they can easily return to their drafts and finish composing messages at their convenience. For example, if you're composing a lengthy message and need to step away, the draft label ensures you won't forget about which conversation contains the incomplete message when you return to your chats. This new draft labeling system helps users reduce the risk of missing or forgetting important unsent messages, as these chats are prioritized at the top of the conversations list based on their most recent draft activity. In addition, we can finally anticipate that this draft labeling feature will also be available on the Android app soon, as WhatsApp is currently working on bringing this enhancement to that platform to ensure a consistent user experience across different operating systems.
A message draft feature is available to some beta testers who install the latest versions of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app, and it's rolling out to more people over the coming weeks.
