As you can see in the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring a feature to allow users to choose which theme they want to apply to specific chats, scheduled for release in a future update of the app. The option will be added to the chat info screen, allowing users to change the message and background color according to their preferences. This means that users will be able to assign a theme to one chat and a different theme to another, offering a highly personalized messaging experience. It is worth noting that choosing a theme for a specific chat will override the default theme, so each conversation can have its own unique look and feel, independent of the general settings applied to the rest of the app.

In addition to these customization options, WhatsApp will also offer a preset of themes to let users preview how a message color looks when applied to a chat. This will make it easier for users to see the interface of their chats before making any changes, ensuring that the selected theme always matches their preferences. It is worth noting that WhatsApp will offer a set of 10 default themes for users to choose from by scrolling the themes screen horizontally, so they can select the most suitable one for each chat. It's also important to mention that the theme selection for each chat will remain private, meaning that only the user who set the theme will see the chosen design.

In our opinion, this new feature will significantly improve the user experience by making it easier to distinguish between different conversations. With the ability to assign unique themes to individual chats, users can visually separate personal, work, and group conversations with ease. This diverse selection will allow users to match themes with the context or tone of their conversations. We also believe that personalized themes can help users quickly identify their most frequent contacts or important chats, as distinct themes will create a visual cue that stands out immediately when opening a conversation.
