HIDDEN COMMUNITY GROUP CHATS
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.9.27 update, we announced that WhatsApp was working on a feature to hide groups in communities. This feature will offer community administrators greater control over group visibility within their communities. These hidden groups will be more discreet and offer focused discussions among invited members, promoting a cleaner and more organized community structure. It appears that WhatsApp now intends to offer iOS users the same opportunity to hide community group chats as it will do on the Android version in the future, as discovered in the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.13.10.70 update from the TestFlight app.

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring a feature to allow community owners to manage the group visibility upon creating a community group chat, scheduled for release in a future update. They will be able to hide the group chat from the community list, making it accessible only to invited members. This ensures that discussions on sensitive topics or within exclusive groups remain private and focused, without cluttering the general community view.
In our opinion, this feature will particularly be beneficial for moderators and administrators who need to coordinate behind-the-scenes or discuss administrative matters privately. By hiding these moderator-only chats, community leaders will be able to manage the community without cluttering the main discussion space. This will also secure access to these groups exclusively for invited members, as a group invite link is requited to join hidden groups. It's very important to note that this setting cannot be changed once the group is added to the community, ensuring member privacy remains protected. This also guarantees that once a group chat is hidden, its confidentiality always remains intact, maintaining the integrity of sensitive discussions and the group participants list.
A feature to hide groups in communities is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. We will keep you updated on any further developments about this feature until it's officially released.
