CHAT BUBBLE COLOR

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.1.10.70 update, we announced a new theme feature in development to allow users to choose the main color of the app. Through this enhancement, WhatsApp aimed to offer users greater flexibility and personalization for their messaging experience, providing them with a feature to select from a range of five distinct colors. Although this is still under development, it appears that WhatsApp is now in the process of further improving this feature by introducing the ability to customize the chat bubble color, as discovered in the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.10.10.71 update from the TestFlight app.

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is experimenting with a feature that will enable users to customize the color of chat bubbles, set for release in a future update of the app. We had earlier hinted at the potential for such customization 5 months ago, in our article discussing the feature allowing users to select the primary branding color for the app. Although the blue hue displayed in the screenshot is not official as it's part of our own testing, it demonstrates that WhatsApp is actively developing a way to support chat bubbles in a wider range of colors beyond the traditional green.

We expect that users will be able to select from a predefined set of colors for their chat bubbles, similar to what we found with the previous theme feature in development that allows them to choose the primary color of the app in the future. This restriction ensures that users won't select colors that could compromise the readability of their messages, maintaining the necessary color accessibility for those who need specific contrast levels to comfortably read their conversations.

Over the past few years, many users have requested the ability to change chat bubble colors to match their style and preferences. This feature would offer a more personalized messaging experience, as users will have the freedom to customize the visual aspects of their chats. We believe that the ability to customize the chat bubble color will further improve the interface, as it allows users to enhance the look and feel of their conversations. It's worth noting that we can already anticipate that WhatsApp will keep refining this feature to introduce more customization tools over the coming months.

A theme feature to customize the chat bubble color is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. We will keep you updated on any further developments about this feature until it's officially released.
